Letter from the General Chairmen

A Message from Global OCEANS 2020: Singapore – U.S. Gulf Coast

This year we have seen a remarkable change of events with the COVID-19 pandemic and all it has brought about. Although so many people were excited to welcome you to Mississippi, we have a slight change of plans because the health and safety of our delegates and community is paramount. While we prepared to bring you here in-person, we are now preparing to take you around-the-world, virtually! This year we are going to lead the 1st ever virtual OCEANS, and we’re doing so on a global scale – joining forces with the OCEANS 2020 Singapore team.

Global OCEANS 2020: Singapore-U.S. Gulf Coast offers you a fantastic opportunity. If you were not able to register for the international OCEANS conference (originally scheduled for last April), you will now have the chance to discover both Singapore and the Mississippi Gulf Coast! Combining the North American OCEANS with the International OCEANS is new territory and we are planning for a unique event!

Our local theme has not changed. VISIONS FOR THE BLUE ECONOMY is still our motivation and driver here on the Gulf Coast. The merger of the Singapore and Gulf Coast technical program is currently underway, and we promise that great content will only be gained!

More details will follow in the coming days and weeks, and while in-person aspects will undoubtedly change, we are still intent on having great virtual exhibit booths, memorable live talks, and many special events like the student poster competition and the young professional (YP) program. We thank you for your continued support, participation, and most especially, your patience. See you this October!
